Leaving a Legacy

“You can start over again! Do not even think about quitting now! It is easy to replay in your mind how things did not work, how much you lost, what you are going through, how angry you are. There is no amount of conversation or magic that is going to wipe the slate clean. You are wasting valuable time and energy that could be used to regain a new normal and start another version of your life. Even though you are hurt and you may be feeling down ~ stop kicking yourself! Face what has happened. Make the decision to start over again.

In life, friendships change…divorces happen…people move on and others die. Money and jobs will come and go. Live long enough and your health and body will change. It goes with the territory of being human. The fact that you are still here gives you an advantage. Do not look back. Look straight ahead!! Decide to use all of your knowledge, skills, experiences and your life lessons from your mistakes, defeats and setbacks, to start over again. Life changes. You may not have the same life as before, but you can still enjoy your life. You have GREATNESS within you!” Les Brown

Sometimes when I’m alone, I ask myself all sorts of questions. Am I building something now? Am I the person I’ve always wanted to be? If not, am I becoming that person, or did I get lost along the way? Are my dreams coming true?

These are the types of questions most people hate asking. But I keep asking them of myself — I keep trying to find the answers.

Have you ever pondered on these questions? Or do you prefer to avoid answering them?

I think each of us is plagued by these questions in the quiet moments of the night or when we suddenly wake up at dawn, clueless about why we can no longer go back to sleep. Perhaps, it comes from our conscience telling us that we should do great things with our lives.

We have to live with purpose. We have to define our destiny and embrace the greatness within ourselves. When we do that, we are consciously building our legacy — one we will be proud to leave behind.

Personally, I want to believe that my books are going to last for a long time. I hope they will last as long as the human race exists. How you ask? By making my books as great as they possibly can be. I have to create compelling stories that will be…
